Edit / Verify E-mail Account Configuration Windows LIVE
The following walk through will cover how to verify settings for an existing E-mail Account in Windows Mail.
Click Start, then click Windows Mail

The Windows Mail home page is displayed.
Click Tools, then click Accounts
Click Tools, then click Accounts
The Internet Account window opens.
Select the Verizon e-mail account and click Properties
Select the Verizon e-mail account and click Properties
Verify the name of the e-mail account.
Verify the display name.
Verify the e-mail address.
If the customer has a 'Reply address' explain to them that anyone who replies to their e-mails will send it to this address. If it is blank - replies will be sent to their Verizon e-mail address.
Verify that Include this account when receiving mail or synchronizing is checked.
Click the Servers tab
Verify the display name.
Verify the e-mail address.

Select POP3 for the incoming mail server.
Enter the Incoming mail (POP3...) server name: pop.verizon.net
Enter the Incoming mail (POP3...) server name: pop.verizon.net
(For Yahoo use: incoming.yahoo.verizon.net)
Enter the Outgoing mail (SMTP) server name: smtp.verizon.net
(For Yahoo use: outgoing.yahoo.verizon.net)
Make sure the username and password are correct and that Remember password is checked.
Make sure that Outgoing server requires authentication is checked.
Click Settings.. to continue

The Outgoing Mail Server window opens.
Verify that Use same settings as my incoming mail server is checked.
Click OK

Click the Connections tab
Leave this at the default settings.Always connect to this account using: does not need to be checked.
Click the Security tab
Click the Security tab
Leave this tab at defaults.
Certificates should be blank.
Algorithm should be 3DES
Click the Advanced tab

Click the Advanced tab
Click the Advanced Tab.
On the advanced tab, ensure the following is populated
- Verizon Server Port Numbers:
- Incoming server (POP3): 995
- Place a check in This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL)
- Outgoing server (SMTP): 465
- This should be port 465 for Verizon E-Mail addresses.
- This should be port 587 for any third party mail provider
- Use the following type of encrypted connection "SSL"
- Server Timeouts
- Set to preference - 1 minute or more is best
- Sending - Do not change this setting
- Delivery
- This is customer preference.
- Yahoo Server Port Numbers:
- Incoming server (POP3): 110
- DO NOT Place a check in This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL)
- Outgoing server (SMTP): 587
- This should be port 587 for Verizon Yahoo mail or any other third party mail provider
- DO NOT Place a check in This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL)
- Server Timeouts
- Set to preference - 1 minute or more is best
- Sending - Do not change this setting
- Delivery
- This is customer preference. You can leave it blank or configure as shown in the image.
When all information has been populated, click OK
